Burried above ground

A man is chased by two lads, he sees a portable toilet and locks him self in. He thinks he's save there, but that's not the case!

Burial in style

When a loved one passes away and a funeral needs to be planned, there aren't much options to really make a funeral personal. To make it feel like you. The Dutch funeral assortment consist of just three c's: coffin, coffee, cake. Saying goodbye in your own style takes a lot of work. It's time to think out of the coffin!
These illustrations are pages from a book I'm working on. My goal is obvious: every human being is different, so every funeral should be different. In this era of individualization everyone should be buried with a personal touch.

Buried above ground

I made these three moodboards for an animation I'm working on. They give an impression of the atmosphere of the animation. It's going to be an stop motion with digital effects.
To cut a long story short: a man is chased by two lads, he sees a portable toilet and locks him self in. He thinks he's save there, but that's not the case!

Japan

I went to Japan this summer. With some stuff I bought there and a picture I made myself, I made a collage based on one of my adventures in the Japanese countryside. Afterwards I made a painting inspired by the collage.

Living animals

Adults see stuffed animals as objects, childeren however see them as living animals. Childeren have a lot more fantasy. They make up all kinds of plays with the stuffed animals and anything is possible.

Miep for STUKboek

Illustrations for STUKboek (a book about battered children). First there were short films, made by the children themselves and now a book has been published with their stories. I illustrated one of them.
The original film can be viewed here (in dutch!) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDCkoWj-EGU

L.A.R.P.

L.A.R.P. is short for life action role play. L.A.R.P.ers feel more comfortable in their costumes than in  daily wear. So why don't they wear their favorite pieces of clothing to school/work/etcetera? I asked three L.A.R.P-ers to dress up while executing  their daily tasks.

Made up story

Illustrations I made to illustrate a story I wrote, which takes place around a apartment block.

Chameleon cats

For this project I decided to make silhouettes of cats myself and find a suitable place for them. During the project the cats became less and less visible. Except the last one, he's showing of his x-ray!

Tagliavini: imitatio (and aemulatio?)

For research class, we had to copy an existing work of art. I chose a work of Tagliavini's: 17th century II from his Dami di Cartone series from 2008 (which you can see on http://www.christiantagliavini.com/portfolio.html). I chose this particular work, because he used the realistic medium of photography with hand made cardboard pieces to create it. I find the juxtaposition of the realism and unrealism in his work very interesting. I like incorporating this approach to making a photograph.
